Year in review...
There are only a few days left in 2010 and my what a year! My resolution for 2010 was to travel more and that I did! Here's a recap :)
Frenso Road Trip for Ashley and Sant's wedding
Sarah and I hit up Denver, Co and Las Vegas in March for St. Pattys and Magoo's Wedding to Izzy
In June I went back to the South to see an old friend, went to Charleston and fell in love with it's charm.
Later that month had an impromptu trip to Vegas with Ash, Sant, and Kristen. Thank you for inviting me. I definitely needed that trip!
In July Kristen and I took a trip to the East Coast to visit Christina in DC and Courtney in NY
Vegas again in August for Candice's Bachelorette celebration
San Francisco in November with some of my favorite girls around! Shanny, Meggy, Tina, and Steph

What a fun year! I can't wait for 2011 and the travels that lie ahead!

The Man, The Myth, The Legend

Well Folks, He did it again! My Boi Kelly Slater Won his TENTH World Title yesterday. He has undoubtedly set the bar for surfers to come. Andy Irons was the only person to remotely come close to the success of Kelly, having won 3 titles himself. Kelly, dedicated this milestone win to the late Irons, stating that he would give the title back in a heart beat if we could have Andy back.
Here's a lil history...
32 yr old Kelly went pro in 1991, and in 92' won his first title. Then won again from 94'-98', and then took on a whole new generation of surfers winning in 05', 06', 08' and now 2010!
Will he go for an 11th?? I guess we'll have to wait and see!!!

RIP Andy Irons

It was a somber day in the Surfing community when news broke this morning that three time world champ Andy Irons passed away after reportedly having contracted Dengue Fever. He was on his was home after dropping out of the Rip Curl Pro in Puerto Rico that is going on as we speak after not feeling well. His body was found this morning in a Dallas hotel where he had stopped for the night before attempting to head back to his native Hawaii. Irons died at the age of 32 leaving behind his wife and unborn child. So sad. RIP Andy.

The Vitra Haus

Check this place out! It's amazing. It's called the "Vitra Haus" and was built by Herzog & de Meuron. The theme for the building was that of the archetypal house combined with stacked volumes. The building consists of 12 "houses" that are "piled" 5 storeys. The house is the latest adddtion to the Vitra Campus, an industrial design park located in Weil am Rhein, Germany. Here you will also find Frank Gerhy's first European building, and Charles and Ray Eames' The Lounge Chair . A must visit for any design enthusiast.

Mines...

Check this place out.. Its a 500 year old silver mine a tenth of a mile deep located in Sweden. It's a place where people actually pay top dollar to find solace from the rest of the world. I thought it was kind of funny only because the Chilean miners were just rescued from a mine last week! Then again, your stay will be shorter and there will be no actual mining involved...
Whatever floats your boat, riggght?
If you're interested in spending a couple of nights and some cash money underground, you can check out the website here. Mind you, its all in swedish... ;)

Kelly

Congrats to my boy Kelly Slater for winning the Hurley Pro over the weekend at Lower Trestles! The 9 time world champ is back in first place in the ASP rankings just ahead or Jordy Smith searching for his 10th world title! There are only 4 events left. Lets see if he can hang on to the lead. I hope so.
Next up is the Quiksilver Pro in France. Good Luck Kelly!

Dollar ReDe$ign Project

Check this out..
It's called "The Dollar ReDe$ign Project" It's a project organized by creative strategy consultant Richard Smith who is soliciting design ideas for what could one day be a new US paper currency. US currency hasn't been truly redesigned since the 1930's. Maybe it's time for a change...?
These are just a few of the entries that I think have the potential of actually winning.

2012 Olympic Posters??

Check out these awesome 2012 London Olympics design proposals! They are by graphic designer Alan Clarke. I think they are tantalizing!
“My thinking behind these posters was to convey the movement and energy of the games, in a simple yet abstract way. The designs focused on the movement and speed of the athletes equipment. They were used to help travelers associate relevant tube stops, with the Olympic events that are being held there.”

Vampire Weekend

So concert season is pretty much underway and I'm loving it! I came across these fun Vampire Weekend posters and they reminded me of the Denver/Vegas trip that my bestie Ser-Bear and I took in March! The band is coming to SD this summer and we're hoping to catch that show too. If you haven't heard of them you should check them out here. "Horchata" it's one of my faves!
Enjoy!!
